WASHINGTON, D.C. The Navy Department today issued a statement designed to end rumors of a possible intervention in Brazil. Speculation arose concerning such a mission when elements of the Caribbean fleet, along with surface ships from the Atlantic fleet seemed to be moving south toward destinations along the Brazilian coast. After a mysterious blackout of all communication from the ships for three days the naval group is now headed for the Strait of Taiwan.

Reliable Navy sources suggested that the period of complete radio silence was part of a readiness test. All crew members have been prohibited from commenting on the results of the test. Other details were not available.

WASHINGTON, D.C. The State Department announced today that Jesus Robeles has arrived in the United States. Robeles landed at Andrews Air Force Base with a small party described as friends. His arrival, amid tight security measures, was uneventful laying to rest rumors that his party experienced difficulties leaving Brazil.

He and his attorney met with State Department and INS officials while at the Air Base before departing by car for an undisclosed location in Washington.

WASHINGTON, D.C. The State Department has granted Jesus Robeles what is considered Foreign Dignitary Status. This classification is similar to that of a visiting head of state and qualifies Jesus Robeles for Secret Service protection, translation services, transportation and other assistance. Mr. Robeles speaks Portuguese.

WASHINGTON, D.C. "WHERE DID HE GO?" State Department sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, released a brief statement this morning concerning the whereabouts of Jesus Robeles who arrived at Andrews AFB late last night. "Of course, he is not in any form of custody. He and his party are considered guests of the United States and will be afforded every measure of hospitality commensurate with that status. His attorney has made living accommodations for his party in Washington at an undisclosed location. The people of the United States, along with the people of the rest of the world, will have ample opportunity to see and hear this man when he is prepared to appear publicly."

The source went on to say that the Secret Service wished to consolidate security arrangements before Jesus' location is made public.
